For Participants

Once you register for Give A Meal Team Challenge, you’ll have tons of fundraising tools at your fingertips. And, we’ll be providing all of advice and support to make you a fundraising pro.

Here are a couple tips to get you started:

Fundraising Tip 1:

If you're worried about pitching to your networks over and over, consider that social media is a much softer medium than email. It's much more acceptable to post frequently on channels like Facebook and Twitter where people update their statuses much more than once a day. Set short-term goals for yourself (e.g. $200/1,600 meals by the end of week 2, $400/3,2000 meals by the end of week 4, etc.). Use social media to get the word out about your progress toward your goals and encourage people to help you over the next hurdle. We’ve even provided sample messages to get you started!

Fundraising Tip 2:

Make sure that you thank all your supporters and let them know the impact they have made. Don't forget to reach out to non-responders again in the final days of your fundraiser. Remember, people can easily miss or forget about the appeal emails you sent weeks ago, so remind them. Let them know that now the need is urgent! Follow up is key!

Matching Gifts

Matching gifts can be a great way to double or even triple your fundraising dollars for the Give a Meal Team Challenge. Remember, each dollar raised means 3 meals to Americans struggling with hunger so every dollar counts! Many employers sponsor matching gift programs and will match charitable contributions made by their employees. Your company may match your donation as well as donations made by your co-workers if they also apply for matching gifts. Some companies even match gifts made by retirees and/or spouses!
