The youth of St. Paul's UMC are participating in a fasting, fundraising and awareness event on April 25 to learn about hunger in America and to help provide relief through monetary donations.
1. FASTING: To emphasize the experience of hunger in America, we are asking that youth engage in a 24-hour fast starting at 7:00 PM on April 24. We will provide water and juice throughout the day to sustain youth until they prepare and share a meal together, breaking their fast for dinner on April 25.
2. FUNDRAISING: We embolden youth and their families to get involved by asking friends and family for donations and collecting allowance or chore money to donate to this cause. According to the Food Bank of the Southern Tier's website, $30 provides a month of food, so we are looking to raise $360 (a year's worth).
3. AWARENESS: The gathering on April 25 will focus on teaching youth about hunger and allowing them to encounter the many struggles people in poverty face in this country. Youth will also participate in a service project during this event. To learn more about the gathering or sign up, visit www.stpaulsithaca.org/youth-ministry/
